Melancholia (revised)

Melancholy clouds
flock, fringing on lunacy—
her dark mood hovers

A somber veil
shrouds her senses
the taste of numbness
on her tongue

Shadow has her
in its clutches
her silent tears
unwrung

Sorrow tips the scale

(Written for contest: haiku with follow-on 9 verse poem to tie together)
